Obituary for Betty Bechtle
1937 - 2010

Betty Ann Bechtle, age 73, of Independence, Kansas passed away Friday, September 10, 2010 at Kansas Medical Center in Andover, Kansas.
Betty was born June 29, 1937 in Ottawa, Kansas to Frank Samuel Cannady and Elma June (Robison) Cannady.
On August 5, 1956 she married Chester Duane Bechtle in Ottawa, Kansas, Mr. Bechtle survives of the home.
She is also survived by a brother, Richard Cannady and his wife Mary, of Glenrock, Wyoming. Her children: Cindy Nix and husband Tony, of Wichita, KS, Greg Bechtle, Jeff Bechtle, Michelle Melton and husband Tony, and Cathy Bechtle all of Independence and Shelley Wilson and husband Mark of Peru. Grandchildren: Adam Wilson and wife Jessica, Tiffany Bechtle, Tasha Bechtle, Jennifer Nix, Dustin Shields, Tyler Jensen, Ian Jensen all of Independence. Nathaniel Jensen, Samuel Jensen and Gage Dewlen of Haven, Haze Wilson of Sedan, Caleb Bechtle and Cody Bechtle of Peru and Joshua Smithson and wife Melissa of BellaVista, Arkansas. Great-Grandchildren: Trinity Bechtle, Noah Wilson and Aiden Nix all of Independence and Aidyn Smithson of BellaVista, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents Frank & Elma June Cannady.
Mrs. Bechtle worked at the SRS office in Independence for many years. She and her husband were also foster parents and fostered over 40 children. She was an active member of the Church of God in Independence.
Mrs. Bechtle will lie in state from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 15th at 10:30 a.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Webb & Rodrick Chapel. Private graveside services will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
