Jeff Tindle, 54, former Independence resident, died Friday, December 24, 2010 at the Baylor Medical Center in Irving, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Penwell-Gabel Webb & Rodrick Chapel with the Reverend Dee Williamston, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Independence, officiating. Interment will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the Penwell-Gabel Webb & Rodrick Chapel from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
The family has suggested memorial remembrances to Independence Lions Club Kiddy Land Project or the Mark Asa Tindle Memorial at Independence High School and remembrances will be received at the funeral home.
Jeffrey Lee Tindle was born November 9, 1956 at Independence, Kansas, the son of Bob Tindle and Norma (Cooley) Tindle. He grew up and attended Independence Schools, graduating from Independence High School in 1974. He later attended Independence Junior College and Emporia State University. Jeff worked for Wood Lumber and Independence Ready Mix from 1973 until 1983. In 1984 he moved to the Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas area and worked various jobs until he began employment with Atmos Energy in 1992. At the time of his death, he was a Measurement Instrument and Control Technician with Atmos.
He was a member of the Grace-Memorial United Methodist Church of Independence. He enjoyed golf, scuba diving where he was a certified instructor and travel.
On December 4, 2010 at Arlington, Texas, he was united in marriage to Pamela Thiessen and she survives at the home.
Additional survivors include: a son, Aaron Tindle of Arlington, Texas; two step daughters, Tiffany Shinn of Springfield, Missouri and Ashley and her husband Adam Wright of Milan, Tn; and a brother Chris Tindle and his wife Jana of The Woodlands, Texas; an uncle Bob Cooley and his wife Laverne of Independence; his cousin Cindy (Cooley) and her husband Tad Coles of Overland Park, Kansas; an aunt Betty Maxey of Wichita, Kansas; two step grandchildren; and one niece and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother Mark Tindle, grandparents Norman and Irene Cooley and Asa Harry and Lena Tindle and his step grandfather, E. R. Fowler.
