Mr. Wayne Johnson, 69, of Elk City, died Friday as a result of a motorcycle accident west of Independence.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the Penwell-Gabel Webb & Rodrick Chapel with the Reverend Jim Blocher, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Independence , officiating. Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the family farm near Elk City, Kansas. Friends may call at the Penwell-Gabel Webb & Rodrick Chapel from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 noon until service time on Sunday.

The family has suggested memorial remembrances to the Old Settler’s Days Celebration in Elk City, Kansas. Remembrances will be received at the funeral home.

Gordon Wayne Johnson was born October 22, 1940 at Alton, Missouri, the son of John M. Johnson and Molly (Friend) Johnson. He attended Alton schools for a time and Wichita North High School before graduating from Wichita East High School Vo-Tech Department.

Mr. Johnson owned and operated Shop Master sharpening service and enjoyed restoring old cars, motorcycles and hunting and fishing.

On August 22, 1959 at Wichita, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Rosemary Shackleford. She preceded her husband in death on March 26, 1999.

On July 3, 2010 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma, he was united in marriage to Donella “Shorty” (Brogan)Green. She survives at the home.

Additional survivors include: a son, Larry Johnson of Wichita, Kansas; a daughter, Cynthia Raffety of Niotaze, Kansas; three grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; two brothers, Don Johnson of Dixon, Missouri and Robert Johnson of Wichita, Kansas; and three sisters, Rose George and Wanda Johnson, both of Wichita and Francis McDaniel of Climax, Kansas.
